Topography of Terror
Behind a section of the wall that remains practically intact, there is a site where the Topography of Terror is located, a place with a chilling story.
Background
In 1933 the neobaroque building that occupied that place became the seat of the dreaded Gestapo, the Secret Police of the State. Those who opposed the Hitler regime ended up there, where they were subjected to interrogations and continued torture in the basement of the building.
The texts and photographs of the Topography of Terror detail the sordid history of Hitler's security apparatus between 1933 and 1945.
To visit with time
For people especially interested in history, Topography of Terror is a really interesting place, but it is necessary to take enough time to read the texts that accompany each of the photographs.
Searching for secret information? Members of allies imprisoned in the building? You can look for various reasons, but for some of them the main building of the Luftwaffe, the German Air Forces, was not bombed during the war.
